Oil and Cold Wax on stretched canvas
120 cm x 100 cm
This painting is painted from part photo, part memory, of the early morning fog falling over the landscape on the last day of a trek to Machu Picchu. Often my memories are faded and misty, and I tried to reflect that mood in the way I painted it. I hope its monochromatic exploration of blues will speak to people’s emotions and make them feel something, perhaps evoking faded memories, or dreamscapes. When I was walking in the early hours of the morning, I was struck with a sense of awe when I saw and photographed this scene. Unfortunately, the photograph didn’t do it justice. I hope the painting does more so.
